I submitted this artwork as part of the Body of Work for our recent end of unit 1.2 assessment. At the time it was incomplete. Over the break I completed this artwork and this is the process video.
This artwork is the third and final painting in the series entitled ‘We are all Stardust’.
I am currently experimenting with making-with stardust. Stardust, or Elemental Materials, as I am calling them, are art materials that contain non-human-made elements on the Scientific Periodic Table (such as carbon, gold, magnesium, cadmium, etc.). Most of these elements were formed as cosmic events – mostly stars dying and going supernova – and during those cataclysmic events, these elements are forged. That is why the elements from the Periodic Table don’t just exist on earth – indeed they exist in the cosmos, on stars, moons, other planets, as dust clouds in Nebulae… most of these elements are older than earth itself.
I am also making observations of what happens when I not only make-with stardust, but also what happens when I make-about the story of stardust, as well as use meditation journeying and channelling
