Unit 2: 22 November 2024: Artwork: The Circle (3)
This artwork by Fine Artist Debbie New is a materials investigation into working exclusively with 24 carat gold, appreciating its peaceful aesthetic paired with white. It investigates gold’s cosmic primordial origins from neutron star explosions and its presence in our bodies and various celestial bodies, emphasizing our connection to stardust through evolutionary processes.
Unit 2: 11 October 2024: Artwork: Serenity
The artist documents the creation of a piece influenced by meditation and moonstone, utilizing stardust to inform their practice-based research. By channeling energy from the moonstone, they aim to enhance their artwork, drawing on its unique elemental properties as an anchor. A video accompanies this exploration.
Unit 2: 8 October 2024: Contextually and Positionality: A Survey of my Contextual Field
Fine Artist Debbie New explores the convergence of Philosophy, Science, Metaphysics, Mathematics and Art, seeking to articulate a non-anthropocentric post humanist perspective. This post examines the work of other artists that work in a similar contextual field, looking at themes of temporality, perception, and immersive experiences. The goal is to create a meditative, otherworldly atmosphere that connects viewers to the cosmos and the underlying interdependence of existence.
